What is the Fresh Tastes @ School Booster Program?

The Booster Program is a support Program aimed at high schools that have not fully implemented, or may need extra assistance in implementing the Fresh Tastes @ School Strategy.

The Fresh Tastes @ School Booster Program aims to:

Provide intensive professional assistance to up to 100 high schools to implement the Fresh Tastes @ School Strategy
Build the capacity of the whole school community to sustain a healthy school canteen food service
Support schools with skills and knowledge to run a well-managed successful healthy school canteen

Funded through the Australian Better Health Initiative: A joint Australian, State and Territory government initiative, the Fresh Tastes Booster Program will be delivered by Healthy Kids on behalf of NSW Health.

The Program is free of charge for all high schools in NSW.

What does the Booster Program include?

A comprehensive assessment of the school canteen, including:
    - Canteen management
    - Canteen menu
    - Canteen policy
    - Classroom links
    - Promotion of healthy foods
    - Food safety and hygiene

Consultation with parents, staff, students and volunteers to determine the level of satisfaction, and identify issues and opportunities in relation to the school canteen.
An individualised action plan to ensure the minimum standards of the Strategy will be achieved over the course of the Program.
Ongoing professional, personalised assistance to implement the strategy.
Personalised training for canteen staff, volunteers and teachers.
Provision of support tools and resources.
Encouraging linkage with a canteen network.
