Triple P
The HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL Positive Parenting Program will be delivered by the Healthy Kids Association, in the coming months.
The Healthy Kids Association, located in Epping, is inviting parents to participate. The eight-week parenting program aims to teach effective parenting strategies including ways to encourage behaviour you like and how to prevent or manage common child behaviour problems.
All parents want to have a positive relationship with their child. Sometimes this can be challenging when children are demanding, disobedient, throw temper tantrums or are generally disruptive.
Triple P is the Positive Parenting Program and through a partnership with Families NSW, it is offered to all parents of primary school aged children. The Program teaches practical, effective ways to manage common issues most parents will face at some time, including tantrums, whinging, disobedience and meal and bedtime difficulties.
Developed by Professor Matthew Sanders and his colleagues from the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland, Triple P is award winning and internationally renowned.
Jo Gardner, who facilitated the program said "Ten families recently completed the program and unanimously agreed that they had gained great insight into their parenting, including how they, themselves contributed to behavioural issues with their children!"
"There's no one, right way to be a parent. Triple P suggests simple routines and small changes that can make a big difference to your family. When parents are consistent and don't fall into the parent trap of unintentional rewards, they find life at home is harmonious, enjoyable and happy."
"The great thing about doing a Triple P Group Course is that the groups are small and you’ll feel immediately at home with a group of parents who all want the same thing – to do the best for their kids and have an enjoyable family life", said Ms Gardner.
One of the fathers who attended Triple P said "Both my wife and I found the Triple P course very beneficial. Admittedly, I was quite skeptical about some of the methods being taught, I thought that they would never work with my son but upon giving the methods a try, I have begun to notice changes in his behaviour and have learnt some helpful skills that should make my job as a parent easier. We are never taught how to be parents we just fall into it, therefore I would recommend the Triple P course to all parents of young children."
Parents who are interested in attending the program should contact the Healthy Kids Association on 02 9876 1300 or info@healthy-kids.com.au for more information.
