We are seeking an enthusiastic Canteen Supervisor to revitalize and operate the school canteen for 25hrs/week (approx.). The successful applicant would need to be committed to the Fresh Tastes @ School Strategy. Qualifications in the Fresh Tastes @ School Strategy, Canteen Operations and/or Food Safety and Hygiene will be highly regarded. The successful applicant needs to demonstrate good communication skills and be able to work closely with the Canteen Committee. It is an essential requirement of employment that Prohibited Employment Declaration and Consent to Employment Screening checks will be completed.
In this role you would be responsible for:
1. Implementing canteen policy
2. Occupational Health and Safety in our canteen
3. Planning, organising and monitoring the day to day operations of the canteen
4. Planning for and cooking fresh meals and snacks with seasonal variations
5. Continuously updating canteen menus and procedures
6. Rostering volunteer parents
7. Ordering, receiving and ensuring the quality of all supplies
8. Maintaining canteen records
9. Banking daily takings
10. Attending Canteen Committee meetings
11. Co-operating with the committee on canteen events such as Fun Lunches
12. The cleanliness of the canteen
To be considered you must meet the following criteria:
1. Demonstrated understanding of healthy eating
2. Demonstrated ability to prepare, cook and promote healthy foods
3. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member as well as supervise others
4. Demonstrated time management skills and ability to control day-to-day operations of a school canteen
5. Experience with volunteers and parent groups
6. Knowledge of basic financial management systems
7. Knowledge of the Fresh Tastes @ School NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy
8. Experience and or qualifications in food preparation, food safety and handling
9. Understanding of OH&S principles
10. Interest in food preparation, nutrition and children
