Checklist for Promoting your Menu and Canteen
1. Use innovative or novel ways to display foods in the canteen.
2. Use posters or menu boards to promote foods in the canteen.
3. Decorate your printed menu in an interesting way.
4. Conduct a theme day in the canteen eg St Patrick’s day and promote special foods as part of the day.
5. Conduct a ‘health promotion’ day such as Healthy Bones week and promote special foods as part of the day.
6. Use imaginative names for menu items.
7. Use two-for-one deals, prizes, incentives, promotional products, and stickers etc to promote menu items.
8. Use free lunch vouchers or ‘frequent customer’ cards to promote the sale of food in the canteen.
9. Use the Student representative Committee (SRC) to help promote the canteen.
10. Use special ‘meal-deals’ to promote healthy foods.
11. Promote the canteen by the school newsletter, PA announcements, school assemblies etc.
12. Conduct taste testing of new products to help to promote them.
